Grooming Reports 2017-2018

2017-2018 Season Summary:

Dates of Operation: January 21, 2018 to March 4, 2018

Season length: 42 days (6 weeks)

Well the very short ski season has come to an end. We are sorry to report that the temperatures, sun and lack of snow have conspired against us. We are halting grooming for this season. Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the abbreviated season. Thank you also to our hard working volunteer groomers who made it all possible. Next year,....Best ski season ever!!!

Update: Saturday, March 3
Main road and campground were groomed for skating yesterda (Friday, March 2) .Many bare and thin spots exist. One set of classic tracks on main road. We are losing snow rapidly. This is Spring skiing. That means conditions are icy in the morning and slushy in the afternoon. Best window is probably 10:00am- Noon. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Update: Thursday, March 1
Main FS Road, East Creek and Campground trails all groomed for skating today. Skating lanes in great shape and looking good. Classic tracks are getting a little thin and melted in spots, use caution.

February 24, 2018

Great weekend of skiing at Vallecito. Trails will be groomed again tomorrow (Sunday, Feb.25) and there is a rumor that there will even be some trails groomed through the campgrounds. Be sure to check those out.
FYI, the road from the dam to the trailhead has not been plowed. It is passable, but best for 4wd, all wheel drive or high clearance 2wd. Please do not park at the bottom of Ellington Lane. Thank you

Update: Friday, Feb. 23
Great skiing this morning at Vallecito. More snow expected tonight and throughout the weekend. Planning to groom either later this afternoon, or tomorrow morning. Either way should be great skiing all weekend! Please get out and enjoy it!

Thursday morning. Feb. 22.
2-3 inches overnight and still snowing at Vallecito. Plan is to groom this afternoon. Enjoy Winter!

Update Tuesday, Feb. 20
Main FS Road and East Creek groomed for skating this afternoon and new classic tracks set on main road. Cold temps should make for good skiing the next couple of days.

Friday, Feb. 16 UPDATE:
Main FS road and East Creek groomed. Some Classic track set on main road (outside edge is pretty thin). Beware of rocks on East creek. Snow is thin and won't last long. Reminder: there is NO portapot at trailhead. Also, please park South of Ellington Lane on West side of road. Thanks...and...Enjoy it while it lasts.

News Flash! Main FS road has been groomed and is skiable. Coverage is very thin so please use caution. But enjoy it while it lasts!

I am sad to report that the warm, dry weather has done us in. We have halted all grooming at Vallecito Nordic and currently trails are unskiable. If we receive a large amount of snow and temperatures drop we will resume grooming. Thank you for your understanding.

Some grooming done yesterday, Sunday Jan. 28 on main FS road and East Creek. Snow is really thin, but some good skiing exists. Get it while it lasts...Sunny and warm forecast again this week

Alright Folks, don't get too excited but there there is some groomed terrain at Vallecito! Thanks to Doug and Ron K. there is some *skating groomed out on the FS road and East Creek. Snow is VERY THIN! Use caution and your old rock skis. Cold temps the next couple of days so maybe this will hold up.

NO DEMO DAY.
Despite an optimistic forecast for the next couple of days, we will NOT be hosting Demo Day this coming Sunday, Jan. 14.

However, the weather looks promising. Keep doing your snow dances.

Update: Conditions, Demo Day, etc...

Trails are still NOT open at Vallecito. We continue to hope and dance for snow and colder temps. Will update website and facebook page if conditions change.

Demo Day is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 14. 9:00am - 3:00pm. This is of course, snow dependent so we will update as conditions hopefully change!
